The XM1 doesn't have any smoothing or acceleration by default. The PixArt PMW3389 sensor has smoothing by default above ~1900 CPI in order to reduce jitter. When Ripple Control is enabled, it doesn't have any influence below 1900 CPI, but above this threshold, smoothing is applied and jitter reduced, at the cost of a few frames of added motion delay.
