Users are allowed to open mice without voiding the warranty, but only for the following approved maintenance tasks:
-
Changing the hot-swappable OP1 switches
-
Replacing the detachable cable (OP1, XM1, XM2 8k)
-
Adjusting internal button tensioning (OP1 only — see note below)
⚠️ Important exceptions and warnings:
-
XM-series mice (XM1, XM2) do not have hot-swappable switches; changing switches on these models requires soldering and is not covered under warranty.
-
Cleaning the scroll wheel encoder with compressed air is generally not effective. These components are pre-lubricated, and debris often remains trapped internally. Disassembling the scroll wheel or encoder mechanism will void the warranty!
-
Disassembly of side buttons or any internal components beyond the approved tasks is not covered.
🔧 User damage is not covered under warranty.
For example:
-
Damaging the PCB with a screwdriver while opening the mouse
-
Bending pins on a CPU or motherboard during installation
